Transcoding errors for some users

some users are getting " [Playback was terminated by the server Conversion failed. The transcoder exited due to an error]" on some devices in the home. for example. 1 user tries it on his roku and ipad and gets this error but then tries his laptop and its fine or tries his cell phone and perfect… I can not figure out the issue . I dont understand the logs and I dont see a pattern. Its random. and happening to many users… any help would be appreciated. Plex Media Server Logs_2019-06-19_22-39-22.zip (3.3 MB)

To mention, I am running on a Ryzen 7 2700 / 32gb of ddr 4, OS is Unraid.

Have you checked the Dashboard to see the details of the clients that are both working and not working? Can you provide screenshots of the devices showing up in the dashboard if possible?

The problem is they never even show in dash board. This message pops up immediately for them.

I have removed all of plex, redownload a new version of the. Binhex plexpass. And still came issue. Could this be an issue with the USB drive I’m running my unraid os on? Or maybe an issue with the SSD I and running plex on? It just doesn’t make sense how some people get this error and others dont. Only has been happening over the last few plex updates

I am getting this same issue, It looks like when 2 users watch the same video file and one is able to play the video file at a higher quality, the user that has to transcode their file to a lower setting is getting wiped out and begins trying to tanscode at the original/higher quality. Hard to follow heres a scenario.

User A starts the office episode 1 but their internet quality is bad so they down convert it from 1080p to 720p and the audio from AAC7.1 to EAC3 and begins watching it with no issue.

User B starts watching the office episode 1 from the same location as the server is located so they have perfect internet and connection to the server so they run the tv show at 1080p with audio aac7.1.

User A and B’s the office episode 1 crashes and it says “Playback was terminated by the server Conversion failed. The transcoder exited due to an error”

If you look at your dashboard you can watch this happen in real time. as soon as the user B starts up the stream the transcode settings user A had are wiped out and it just goes back to the normal format.

If user A starts it back up it works fine until user B starts it up as well and the process is repeated.

This has only started after the recent updates… they def broke something… they need to get it fixed, it’s so annoying… I get it anytime… 4 devices in 1 home… no one else playing anything… 2 of the 4 devices on the same home network get the error… then randomly everyone else gets it sometimes on everything. Sometimes on just some things… emby is looking better and better every day this happens. :face_with_symbols_over_mouth::rage:

I also can’t watch anything. On 6/29 I noticed I couldn’t watch something because it said it was “Unavailable”. I rescanned the library it was in and it seemed to work. Then on 6/30 I went to watch something and I keep getting “Conversion failed. The transcoder exited due to an error.” I do not have Malwarebytes Premium. I had the free version and stopped that from running to see if that would help. Then I was getting errors that I wasn’t even connected to my server!
