the logs above are from a fresh computer/server/player restart, i’m running Windows 10 Education on a home built desktop with 16gb DDR4, Core i9 9900k, dual-nvme ssd raid 0 as the OS drive, Passport external HDD with USB 3.0 plugged into a 3.0 port for my library. No graphics card, just whatever is integrated into my MAG z390 tomahawk motherboard and intel processor. The logs recorded a failure while playing a video in the desktop app on the same desktop the server is running on, but the issue exists with my xbox one and android phone as well. I was just running stable releases when 17 first came out, but changed to beta channel when the failures started hoping to get a fix via update.
Windows has all the latest updates, version 1903 build 18362.418, PMS has all the latest updates, xbox one has all the latest system and plex updates, and my desktop app has all the latest updates.
Prior to version 17 everything ran like a dream the biggest issue i ever had was subtitles, and that was more about finding them than any issue with Plex itself. ever since 17 i’ve had this transcoder failure issue on both my desktop and xbox and it occurs randomly. typically it will play the first file fine, and then subsequent files pretty much all fail. i hit play again, it starts again, and then fails again, either 10 second in, while paused, or 20 more minutes in, once the first failure occurs, pretty much every file is going to fail at some point, typically at multiple points. The file plays fine, no glitches, until it doesn’t and even when i start it back up, it starts up exactly where i left off, maybe a few seconds before, and plays through just fine, so i doubt there’s an issue with the files. Further, it happens with all file types, i even used the plex optimize feature, set it to custom, optimize for xbox one, so it wouldn’t have to transcode at all, and it failed at those files too. i have no idea what’s causing it.
I’m willing to go back to the latest update to version 16 if i need to, but figured i’d post here before doing that and see if someone can recommend some fix or something i’m missing to help me fix my issue as the new server is LIT! i love the software, but if it can’t do the thing its supposed to without erring out all the time, then regardless how beautiful the rest of the setup is, its kind of pointless and i’ll have to go back
I appreciate everything everyone here is doing, and I am more than willing to provide a larger log file if you desire, i saved the one prior to the restart of everything which should have multiple failures in its logs, but i did have verbose logging turned on at the time, so its going to be hefty.
