Am I just never going to understand?
So I have an Imac downstairs. Have a couple externals hooked up to it. Thats where I’m running my server.
Upstairs I have my room TCL 4k tv. Have the plex app installed.
Playback is via wireless. I’m not wired between the computer and the TV. Im running Verizon gigabit service.
When I play via the plex app on my TV and go downstairs and check the plex server to see the activity. 4k content is being transformed. I see the 4k line item then there’s a little arrow pointing to 1080 transcoded.
I tried looking through the settings. Tried looking good on the forums. This would be considered local network playing correct, even if its not hard wired and its playing over wifi?
I’m just going to go back to transferring the 4k video file to an external hard drive and plugging the hard drive into the back of the TV USB port and playback that way.
I was just trying to look for convenience.
- even when I was on the iMac and had the server opened up and opened up the web player and played 4k video. The server still showed it transcoding playing from the same machine except for 1 time. So not sure whats even going on.
