I really hope some improvements can be made to fast forwarding because at the moment none of my M4V nor MKV files can fast forward without freezing.
From reading FAQ, Multichannel should work but not until the next PlexMedia release?

PMS .9.7.27 or newer is required.
I'm having issues with what appears to only be 720p / mkv containered content whereby it stops to buffer every 30 seconds or so. Running PMS 0.9.7.27 with an ATV3 running latest iOS.
I wonder if the problem is due to running PlexConnect on a very thin virtual machine (only 256MB of RAM) or if there's something else going on. Anybody else experiencing similar issues or able to direct me where to start digging for a solution?
Try increasing the RAM but what machine is your PMS running on?
Does your PMS struggle to transcode to another iOS device (ipad/iphone)?
Do you get the same issue with a native playable file?
My typical movies are 6000 kbps, x264 in mkv containers, audio is usually ac3 at 640 kbps or DTS and the frame rate is 23.97. The movies are usually between 4-16 gigabytes. My QNAP T459 II Pro usually does fine on local streaming but this is not watchable with it pausing every 8 seconds. Do I need to change something in the settings to get it working right?

I'm in the same boat as you. Except I have PlexConnect and my PMS installed on a Win7x64 with an i5 and 8Gb of RAM. All my content is stored on a network NAS, with PMS pointed to the UNC path of the content. Videos constantly stop and buffer. Any thoughts?

I increased RAM in the guest running PlexConnect to 1GB and added 2 VCPUs but even at times when the video stops to buffer, i'm using 0.7% and 0% of the two processors, memory is constant at 63MB.
I've never had issues with streaming video to two iPads or an iPhone before. Trying the same video on my iPhone is flawless and it starts loading almost instantly (the ATV takes 10 seconds or so to start playing).
On the host, at the time that video stops to buffer i'm using:

So still have plenty of grunt left in the host (running PMS.)
I've never had issues with buffering of video running to the Plex Client on a jailbroken ATV2 before. Might give it a go and see if it buffers, too. It may be an issue with the video i'm watching.

FYI, Plex is on bare metal, it's just PlexConnect running in a VM.
I'm not sure if this is off-topic but it is a transcoding issue. I can get AC3 Stereo to work but AC3 5.1 and AAC 5.1 won't. It can't be an ATV problem as these files play fine with AirPlay.
Perhaps it was just that video that was having issues. I was able to play it back on iPhone and iPad without interruption.
Watched another ep last night without buffering and started a movie, which played for the first five minutes or so without buffering.
Will keep an eye on it, realising of course, that PlexConnect is still new.
Thanks for the hard work guys!
I think 5.1 audio is possible if you have the latest Plex Media Server update, which is currently available to PlexPass members and will be released to everyone else soon.

I do have 0.9.7.28.33. In Advanced Settings I have checked Enable Dolby Digital During Airplay and Media Downlink Mixing. DD is set to On on ATV. What can be wrong? Have tested with lots of shows and movies. Also tried with two different versions of Plex Connect. One is the iBaa release, the other one with the new movie sections.
Also tested with Server o.9.8.0.36. Deleted Preferences and reset in case Preferences were corrupted. Still no sound with these formats.

I believe it is an PMS issue. MKV are buffering every 5 seconds or so while I have flawless play of the same video if I remux it to MP4. External subtitles (SRT) seems to trigger transcoding regardless the fact I'm using latest plex pass PMS.

Disable Media Downlink Mixing.
Also do you have a DD capable receiver?

Tried it - still no sound on those formats, but they work perfectly with Plex HT and AirPlay so I guess the receiver is DD capable - Bose Series 12 from 1997.

I'm having the exact same issue. Best articulation of the problem. I has similar issues in the past with the early iOS versions. Disallowing the use of the new universal transcoder fixed those issues while they made adjustments. I don't see a way to revert to using the old transcoder with Plex Connect, if only just to test with. Any thoughts on how to use the old one?
