Transcoding Problems suddenly - EAE Timeout / EAE not running?

The last few days I seem to be having loads of problem transcoding even relatively simple files on my DS920+ .

HEVC at 720p is failing and h.264 at 1080p is also failing.

They all seem to issue this error:

I have seen from @ChuckPa that this can be an inotify issue, but I don’t see any such errors and my directories aren’t too big I believe. So not quite sure what is going on here?

Logs attached in debug with verbose off after stopping PMS package, restarting and then attempting a 2 files that fail and another that works.

Go through your machine, find and delete ALL @eaDir entries (The DSM indexer is what creates them. :roll_eyes: )

We will reboot and retest after you’ve got it all cleaned up

Did you (your username) touch anything in the “PlexMediaServer” shared folder ?

I’ve removed all @eaDir using filestation and restarted and it still is throwing the EAE timeout error.

The tmp directory is located at:
/volume1/PlexMediaServer/AppData/tmp

Eveything has the username of PlexMediaServer - nothing has been touched by my username (especially since we cleaned that up a few weeks back)

Please open FileStation → PlexMediaServer / AppData

Now go into tmp and, with PMS stopped, delete everything you find.

Go back up one level and down into Plex Media Server / Codecs

DELETE all EasyAccessEncoder files and folders you find.

Go back up one level and make certain (Right-click Codecs → Properties) that Codecs is owned by PlexMediaServer

We definitely have a EAE problem here but I’m not sure how/why yet.

After you’ve confirmed that, Start PMS and try that one file again please

Done. And it seems to be playing now!

Quite a lot of files/folders in tmp that dated back to 2023 and even as far back as 2021.

The EasyAudioEncoder folder in Codecs was from Sept-23 and there was also an older .zip file from 2020.
