Treasure Island (2012) TV Movie - metadata issue

Server Version#: 1.18.2.2058
Player Version#: Latest

I have noticed that starting with 1.18.2.x version of PMS, the Plex movie agent or the movie database agent no longer fetch metadata for TV movies stored under the “Movie” folder. As I mentioned, this was not the case before. Case in point: “Treasure Island (2012)” is a movie made for TV. I was able fetch its metadata while being classified as “movie” under a movie folder. Now, all of a sudden it is listed under “unmatched” category. You can easily find in imdb so I got me curious. I tried matching it using imdb direct tag (tt1820723) to no avail. Plex stubbornly refuses to recognize it.

I am pretty sure that if I moved it to my TV library, it would find it there but why all of a sudden it stopped recognizing it? I don’t want to lose the history of that movie. Moving it to the TV library would do just that.

Would anyone from Plex care to comment if this is “temporary” as you are working on updates/patches or it is something here to stay and TV movies will no longer be recognized under a “Movie” library?

Chances are, that you won’t be able to match a “TV Movie” with the Plex Movie agent.
You will need to use The Movie Database agent instead.
Click Match, then ‘Search Options’, then select as agent TheMovieDatabase
Don’t forget to set the language for the metadata and the proper movie title.

Sigh. I wish that was that simple. Before I posted I was doing precisely what you suggested without any success. The thing is, it was working before so there were changes introduce in the last to updates which caused this behavior.
