[SOLVED!: I defies all logic to me, but after reintroducing the Robert Glasper folder - so after I posted this message - it solved the problem!! Thaaanks!

So for anyone else reading this and having the same problem, just go ahead and do EXACTLY what Otto suggested and I presume it will fix your problem too.]
Hi Otto,
Thx for your reply!
Well, I tried everything you suggested and…still the same!?
I checked and renamed the metadata so that all the ‘Album Artist’ in the Miles Davis folder had only ‘Miles Davis’ and did the same in the Robert Glasper folder. and did a Plex Dance…to no avail!?
In fact, to make matters even stranger, the misnamed album even re-appeared when I only reintroduced the Miles Davis parent folder (and rescanned) and hadn’t even yet added back the offending Robert Glasper album!?
For sake of clarity as it can be confusing, here are the two related albums creating this misnaming:
- Miles Davis/Miles Davis - Bitches Brew Live (2011)
- Robert Glasper Experiment/Robert Glasper & Miles Davis - Everything’s Beautiful (2016)
It’s actually a Robert Glasper album (nested in my ‘Robert Glasper Experiment’ parent folder) that has ‘Robert Glasper & Miles Davis’ as Album Artist. I understand that Plex doesn’t recognized multiple artists in the Album Artist field but that’s ok with me. I want Plex to recognize it as a single artist named ‘Robert Glasper & Miles Davis’. But anyway, as I mentioned above, the album isn’t even in Plex when the problem still occurs!?
What is going on here!? What else can I do? ![]()
I must say Plex is really fragile and easily broken with any kind of ‘incorrect’ metadata, which is so easy to do when you have 1000s of media files (audio & video) like I imagine the vast majority of Plex users do.
It shouldn’t be this way, there should be a more robust manner of dealing with and eventually correcting the metadata than this!
So…is there anything else I can try?
Is there a Plex Employee expert in this field that can chime in? Because it’s not just for this album…I have others! I just figured if I know how to do one, I’ll try with that solution first before polluting the forum with one post per problem-album.
Thx in advance! ![]()
