Tried everything, can't get posters to work

I’ve been using Plex for a while, but lately the posters stopped updating for my movies. Whenever I choose one, it just loads for a LONG time, then the poster changes to a blank one. I’m currently using PSM for Windows on my personal computer, with wired internet connection.

I already tried:

  • Turning off Anti-Virus.
  • Disabling adBlock.
  • Trying in a another browser.
  • Logging in plex.tv.
  • Checking and unchecking agent providers settings.
  • Changing the agent provider.
  • Uninstalling and cleaning completely Plex from the computer, then reinstalling.
  • Changing AppData folder.
  • Cleaning HTTP cache (‘Plug-in Support\Caches’ folder).

I cleared all the logs, started PMS, then tried to fetch a poster for “10 Cloverfield Lane”, the logs are attached.

What kind of volume is drive letter C: ?
Is it networked? or expanded with Windows storage spaces?
What kind of file system does it use? (it must be NTFS)

Why did you install Plex server onto drive Q: ?

How much space is left on drive C: ?

C: is my SSD and Q: my HDD, both NTFS with plenty of space left. I preferred to install Plex on my HDD, along with all its application data.

All of Plex’s application data are still on C:
But this is probably not the issue.

It appears that some network access to themoviedatabase is timing out.
Do you have internet troubles? Or did you employ a new filter in your firewall or router?

Yeah, I moved all the application data to C: to check if that was the issue.

My internet connection is working flawlessly, and I just checked my router settings, all my firewall and filtering options are off. I also tried disabling Windows’ Firewall Service and tried to fetch a poster, with no luck either.

I can enter and browse themovedatabase’s webpage with no problems at all.

I have the same problem. Can’t change the default poster for a movie even if selecting from one of the already-downloaded posters. It just shows a blank icon. Happens all the time with random movies.
The movies metadata is fine.

Have you ever in the past started Plex server with ‘Run as Administrator’?
This will make certain files in the Plex data folder inaccessible to normal users (because they will be marked as ‘owned’ by the Admin account, and normal users are not allowed to change them).

Verify Access permissions for all files and folders in the Plex data folder.
Of course it is impossible to do one by one

Still no luck. The weird thing is, if I add a poster via URL or locally, it works.

What type of antivirus are you using?

Have you tried to define an exemption in the settings of your antivirus, so it doesn’t interfere in the Plex data folder ?

I use Avast, and yes, it’s already on the AV’s exceptions. Also tried with the AV off.

Can you open this URL http://image.tmdb.org/t/p/original/sS6zJbdqAxfd29xO4OL5jCO7XAT.jpg ?
(do it from the same computer where your Plex Server is installed)

This query was shown as being denied in your logs.

Is your server perhaps situated in South America?
There are reports from Argentina of bad routing to TheMovieDB servers.

Yes, I’m located in Argentina. So that might be the issue after all?

The log files indicate this, yes. The TMDB people have been contacted now.

The problem is being investigated by tmdb / cloudflare - they have asked for anyone with the issue to provide the output from this request

There is no harm in also providing traceroute image.tmdb.org output

If anyone still affected in Argentina please post the results here
