Movie Poster stopped downloading

In the last 5 days or so, Movie posters have stopped downloading and it just posts a clip image of the move as its poster. I have read the previous posts about clean out the Cache and I also removed it and re-added and the same issue occurs.

I found this in the logs

Not sure what would be causing the problem. Any help would be appreciated.

Same thing happening to me. And it keeps saying that movies I’ve had in my library for years, was just recently added.

What’s going on with PMS? It’s really ■■■■■■■■ with my library. It was working perfectly before the last couple of updates.

Edit: I can’t say scre*ing?

Did you guys move your Plex data folder to a different drive perhaps?
Directly to the root folder of that drive?

If so, check
Settings - Server - General - ‘Show Advanced’
“The path where local application data is stored”

If there is only a drive letter in there, without a folder name, it must be written like that:
D:\ and not just D:
(adapt the drive letter to your own system, of course)

Covering the basics: The drive in question must be formatted with the NTFS file system. None other will work.

I have not made any changes recently. I did move my plex data folder from the default, but it has been working normally for months.

Here is my PLEX data folder directory S:\PLEX\Local

Thanks for the help.

That is OK, it is not affected by the particular issue I had in mind.

OK. Did you disable IPv6 support in Plex Server? If not, do it.
Settings - Server - Network - ‘Show Advanced’

Have you ever started Plex server ‘As Administrator’ ? If so, there may be an issue with access permissions in the plex data folder.

  1. activate debug logging (not ‘verbose’!)
  2. quit Plex Server
  3. wait 1 minute
  4. start Plex Server
  5. wait 2 minutes
  6. either refresh one movie or add one movie into your library
  7. wait 3 minutes
  8. fetch log files and attach them here

Plex Media Server Logs_2018-07-04_14-36-48.zip (1.1 MB)

I made the IPv6 change to disable it. Performed the steps. Unfortunately, still not working. I have attached the logs.

Thanks for the help.

Sorry for asking again: is drive S: a locally attached or internal drive?
Or is it a network share?
Or perhaps a ‘pooled’ drive?

Under Settings - Server - Agents - Movies - Plex Movie
please move the line ‘Cinematerial’ below the line ‘Plex Movie’

Did you follow some outdated Howto from these forums which described how to “reset agent bundles”? If you did, your plex installation is now damaged. You’ll have to reinstall Plex Server.

Do you have a particularly restrictive router/firewall in place?

no problem. Appreciate the help. S:/ It is a internal drive. No I did not do a reset. I moved Cinematerial below Plex Movie. Tried to do a refresh on one of the movies. Still no luck.

Nothing unusual with the firewall. I also have not made any changes on in recently.

One observation I thought I saw, was that a poster showed up for about 2 seconds then went away and then just the picture image. I went into edit and went to posters. but what I saw was not there. So not exactly sure what I saw

I wonder:

Go to

  • Settings - Server - Agents - Shows - TheTVDB

In there, grab the line ‘Local Media Assets’ with your mouse and drag it downwards, so it ends up being at the bottom of the stack of active agents.
Repeat the same under

  • Settings - Server - Agents - Shows - TheMovieDatabase
  • Settings - Server - Agents - Movies - Plex Movie
  • Settings - Server - Agents - Movies - TheMovieDatabase

Tried your recommendation. Unfortunately , not seeing a change.

Which anti virus software are you using?
Can you tell it to stop snooping in S:\PLEX\Local\Plex Media Server?

Last attempt:

  • Stop/quit/end Plex Server with the tray icon
  • deinstall Plex Server with the regular ‘Apps’ control panel of Windows (do not use 3rd party ‘Uninstaller’ software like Revo etc.! )
  • for safety, reboot Windows
  • download the installation exe again (this time with a different web browser) and install it

Turned off anti Virus, still no change. I will go for the re-install of PLEX and provide an update when completed.

I still have not done the un install. Was still looking…

Thought this was interesting.

https://api.cinematerial.com/1/request.json?imdb_id=tt8110966&key=plex&secret=ranQxGyEJsyzg&width=720&thumb_width=100.

I ran it manually

{“errors”:[“Limit of maximum 7500 requests per hour exceeded.”]}

Is there some kind of issue where it is making too many calls. Yes I have a large library, but not 7500

There are many requests made for a single movie. When you edit the item, you usually get a whole list of posters and fanart to choose from.
These add up if you’re trying to fetch posters for a whole library at once.

Wait 24 hours, then try again with a few movies. Do not Refresh Metadata for the whole library, or you’ll run into the same restriction again.

I did not refresh for the entire library. Only for the selected movie.

I had the periodically scan setting turned on and changed it to daily and also set to partial scan. Maybe this was causing the issue? Does tmdb also have limits? This might explain what is happening?

I am not getting the error any longer for too many calls. but still not working unfortunately.

It makes the call and receives the following response.

It is like it just stops and routine stops. I would have expected the below to update with the information. from the below. nothing appears to have updated.

Is this what is supposed to happen?

Jason

info.xml data was lost. attached is fileBundle.zip (142.9 KB)

does not appear to update anything after is receives response back from APIs

I just followed the instructions and re-installed. Not seeing any changes in behavior. Still not downloading Posters

Well, I added the open movie DB from UAS. I added it right below PLEX movie and before cinematerial.

Posters are now pulling using this method. If I disable it, then it stops working. So clearly the problem is within PLEX movie and the reason it is not downloading the posters.

This Open Move DB plug in is working as resolved the problem, but did not fix the root cause.

Some kind of issue in the PLEX movie main. Seeing others having the same problem, so this does appear to be some kind of issue.
