(posting here, since the newest Roku Plex client was working until the server side (PMS and NAS) were upgraded - but client seems to be the problem)
Issue: Using the Roku plex app, I can access Plex Media Server Libraries content with some menus but not others.
Setup: Synology NAS + Plex Media Server / Roku Ultra + Plex App
Everything was working until I thought updating was a good idea. Upgraded Synology DSM 7.1 to 7.2.2 (Libraries content area) and Plex Media Server from 1.41.5 to 1.42.2.10156; Roku (14.6)/app (8.6u5) was already up to date and working (including new layout version; before server upgrades). Also took opportunity to re-arrange all my NAS library structure, so:
After upgrades above and test, removed Movies from PMS, then re-added [with new library location] to make sure it worked (it did). Rebooted Plex Media Server and Roku, worked great. Removed and added other libraries and then went for final test (rebooted Roku): Now it does not, not sure what changed (other than removing and adding other Libraries)…but results are strange:
Does not work:
- Plex on Roku - by default, not showing my Libraries stuff
- Plex on Roku menu (Libraries) - Results in “NAS is Currently Unavailable. Please verify that the server is running and has a network connection. If you need additional help…”
- Plex on Roku menu (Libraries | Movies) - same error as above
Works:
- Plex on Roku menu (Libraries | … | Movies) - shows movies, can play them, etc. just fine
- Plex on Synology DSM directly
- app.plex.tv - shows all Libraries including new and recent changes
- (NAS local access from Linux and Windows)
Things I have done:
- the usual verify to make sure PlexMediaServer user has RW access to Library from synology
- allowed insecure connections, jic, on PMS
- restarted everything
- would rather not re-install roku app yet if I don’t have to.
This is a little hard to just google, as it seems to work from one Plex menu but not another. Any help is appreciated. THANKS!
