TrueHD audio selection results in "Conversion failed. The transcoder exited due to an error."

Server Version#: 1.15.1.707
Player Version#: 1.38 (11485) tvOS

Tested a couple 4k movies w/ TrueHD audio and I am seeing a repeated error in the log file where the server tries to “Select best audio stream for part x” then the video fails to play and the client reports:

“Conversion failed. The transcoder exited due to an error.”

Any idea how to fix this? Am I missing a codec? I want to say this worked when I first installed but I didn’t pay attention to versions / etc when it was functional. It’s consistently not working today and will play the same files when I manually select a 5.1 audio track in the client.

If you are running Malwarebytes on the same computer you need to turn off Web protection, or add exceptions for the plex files.

This is discussed here: SOLUTION: Conversion failed. The transcoder exited due to an error
And a temp fix is found: https://forums.malwarebytes.com/topic/242985-web-protection-crashes-plex-transcoder/

Hope that is of any help.

Thanks kaares, this is a fresh install of Win10 Pro and Plex. Nothing but the built in Windows Defender is running in the background.

Still having this issue, anyone else able to watch TrueHD audio content?

Check for spam in your system log relating to licensing. Seems it doesn’t like to echo to ./Plex Media Server.log

Gloppie, this is running from a Windows 10 system. I’m not seeing anything in the event viewer about licensing.

I have a feeling this is the same issue I’m experiencing here: Conversion failed. The transcoder exited due to an error

I feel for you, no real progress on mine. I’m considering dumping Plex on my Windows system and just using it in Linux. These 4k files seem to work from the Linux build.
