TrueHD not loading/infinite buffering

Server Version#: 1.32.8.7639
Player Version#: 4.116.1

Movies with a TrueHD audio track (any channels Stereo, 5.1, 7.1 etc) will not transcode or DirectPlay or DirectStream tested on multiple devices (iPhone, Xbox One S, Chrome)

Must switch to different Audio Track (AC3, DTS etc) to “solve” problem.

I experience the same thing using my Xbox Series X or my LG OLED TV.

Be great to know if there is a fix or an update on the way to resolve the issue.

I know it’s a unique issue for Plex as I can play content via the Disney + App on my Xbox with no issues.

@plumptree

Plex is having trouble with the /transcode directory.

It is on a local drive, mapped to a network drive, etc?

It is local, everything is running on an Unraid server using the linuxserver distro.

Plex: transcoder directory is “/transcode”
Unraid: transcoder directory is “/dev/shm/”

I have 64GB of ECC DDR4 and no other docker containers running.

Haven’t had any issues with any movies or TV Shows with transcoding except those that use TrueHD, and then on those movies if I change the audio track to something else it will transcode fine. Only the TrueHD tracks are having issues.

I am using HW transcoding with a GTX 1060 with the special drivers, everything up to date.

Wanted to update this with my logs of a film successfully playing and transcoding DTS-HD (Roger Rabbit) and then a film not playing the original or transcoding (South Park)

DTS doesn’t need to use the EAE binary to transcode it. Only Dolby codecs do.
The error is caused by the inability of this binary to execute properly.

See TrueHD audio transcoding BUG = error not enough space - #2 by OttoKerner for a few things to check. Unfortunately I cannot tell you how these tips translate to Unraid, but I assume there is plenty of similarity to Linux proper.

Found a fix but unfortunately it was none of the ones mentioned from your link @OttoKerner

I went into my appdata folder for plex and deleted the EAE codec folder, upon restart and playback of a TrueHD movie, it started working fine.
