Hi guys
Just really struggling at the minute with getting Plex to work on my nvidia shield. I purchased the shield a couple of days ago but getting nowhere with Plex. None of my media on my external hard drive is being detected but if I open up Es file explorer I can see my movies no problem. The app has now sent my shield offline and now showing as local. Done a factory reboot and spent 10 hours plus on this and losing the will now.
Any help would be appreciated.

When you log on the web interface have you mapped your external storage so PMS can see it?

The only thing I have done in the app is select the external storage as the default. Not really sure what you mean about mapping. Sorry. This is all new to me so if you could assist me I would be extremely grateful.

you have told PMS where all your libraries are? On your pc, open the plex web app and browse to your server. There you can do all your setup like adding libraries etc. There are also tons of step by step instructions on the web you can look at to make things easier for you.
I can’t do this as the app keeps going to local host and keeps going offline.
Rather frustrating.
HAve you made sure your plex server is running on the shield? go into plex on the shield and go to settings. scroll down and click on Plex Media Server and make sure it is running. you might want to read this link also
Yes I have done all that and made no difference. I read that article last night but still not working.
Keeps reverting to local host and even formatted my external hard drive to exfat from NTFS and still did not work.
I have actually given up now as done everything that nvidia support have advised me to do and also followed the advice I have been given on here. Wasted far too much time and got nowhere.
Same problem here. Purchased Shield specifically for it’s built in PMS and pass through of Dolby Atmos, TrueHD, DTX:X, etc.
PMS 1.4.3.3433 is running in Nvidia Shield. I’ve checked that all updates are current. External 2TB USB plugged in and recognized by Shield. I point the movie lirbary to the new drive (‘add folders’) and when browsing in the Plex web app, they appear as /storage/5C60-3783/movies. I’m guessing the 5C60-3783 is some kind of ID for the external drive. But Movies is the location of all my flicks, and when the same drive is plugged into Win10 host, the PMS on that host handles it just fine. PMS on Nvidia Shield comes up completely empty.
This is becoming maddening and I really don’t want to send this Shield back, but so far it’s been a bit frustrating.
