Trying to control more of the transcoding settings

Hi! Is there a way I can alter more of the transcoding settings other than what it is in the server settings tab?

Like, I was hoping I could set the CRF, thread count and etc somehow. I’m currently using Emby trying to move to Plex, but most of my files that require transcoding (I use chromecast) are stuttering. In Emby there is all of this settings in the transcoding section, but in Plex I can’t seem to do it in a way that works for me with the given options.

I read someone suggest creating a profile in other topic here, but I don’t know how to set this up without some guidance. Anybody knows how to do it or other way that can help me out?

Really? 3 days and no support, or at least an answer?
Well… guess I will stick with Emby then…

You can modify the profile that Plex uses for Chromecast. There is a Chromecast.xml file which is likely the one used by Plex. You would need to copy that to the correct custom “Profile” directory which would then be loaded by Plex instead of the default one. This would avoid your changes being over written any time Plex is upgraded. You could then modify your custom Chromecast.xml to alter the transcode and direct play profiles. This will not allow you to specify the options that FFmpeg uses when transcoding, such as CRF level. If Emby is able to direct play/stream your files then you may have success with modifying the direct play section. If you look in the forum here about “Writing your own DLNA profiles” it will point you to where the custom profiles should be located for different operating systems. You may also want to look at the transcoding options recommendations as you may not be making the best choice for your CPU. Your best choice would be to avoid transcoding if possible, especially on older CPUs.
