Trying to disable Transcoding, but TranscoderCanOnlyRemuxVideo setting not working

In my quest to prevent my server from ever transcoding, I’m trying the hidden setting that @Zekkai suggested in this thread: Disable Plex Transcoder Totally

Unfortunately it doesn’t work.

I’m running the latest plex server on MacOS (currently 1.16.0.1226). I’ve set the setting in the ~/Library/Preferences/com.plexapp.plexmediaserver.plist to the boolean true, to a string of 1, and to an integer of 1. None seem to work.

Always my test file (an old avi) transcodes.

Is this setting just a tease? Is it merely broken for servers on MacOS?

Can anybody confirm this setting actually works?
