Trying to organize singles in Plex music, pulling my hair out

Server Version#: 4.35.1
Player Version#: 4.35.1

Hi everyone,
I’ve finally started organizing my music collection in Plex (Premium) and all seems to be going well, except for one category of music: all the single songs I’ve collected over the years that are individual songs without an album.

Now I could of course let Plex treat them like individual albums but then I end up with a bunch of albums in my collection with only one song which is not what I’m looking to do. Ideally I’m trying to find a way to tag/organize my singles so that:

  • all singles show up in one massive “album” or collection in my library.
  • when I open this album I can still get cover art, release date, artist etc for each single.

Is that something that’s doable in Plex? If so how do I have to organize my singles to get that?

Thanks!

No, that is not possible. Treating each single as a mini-album is the only way.

I see thanks for the quick response. In that case is there a way to bunch all these mini albums together so Plex treats them as one?

You can construct an artificial album out of them, by editing their Album Title meta tag and storing them in a common album folder.
BUT: then the tracks all lose their individual relase date, album art, etc.

And loudness levelling won’t work either, because Plex is expecting that all tracks of an album have been mastered together.

So I cannot recommend you to do it.

Thanks again.
