Plex fails silently every time my off the air tuner restarts and it’s IP address changes. There are no errors displayed anywhere. First I know about it is when I realize I’ve missed recording several shows. Plex has NEVER successfully located my HDHomeRun tuner on the network, so I’ve been forced to manually enter the IP address, which works until some event causes it to reboot and acquire a different IP.
It would be very helpful if there was a notification pushed to my mobile device informing me that the tuner was no longer working.
If this is mainly related to IP address changes of the tuner… have you considered configuring an IP reservation for it on your router?
Edit: beyond that… there’s already an existing feature suggestion discussing an option to have notifications to inform the server admin if a configured tuner is offline / no longer accessible. I suggest you comment/vote in that thread in order to avoid distracting or cannibalizing each other’s votes.
Well, duh, I should have thought of that. Would still be nice to get error notifications.
As far as the existing feature suggestion, I searched every way I could think of before adding my feature suggestion and nothing came up. Given the link it was easy to find, voted for it, but given that the request was from 2017 with 0 votes, I’m not gonna hold my breath.
Thanks for reminding me I could set a fixed IP for the HDHomeRun.
