I am really enjoying my Plex Media Server. I am, however, running into issues with my ridiculously large libraries. I have over 200GB of music, 3TB of television shows (mostly anime), and the PMS server and various processes stop working, but continue to run. I have spent many years as a *nix admin, and have been tuning webservers, jvms, and database interactions for most of my career. I know, why in the hell are you using a doze box, well because I am an amature photographer/videographer, who has had some good deals on adobe products, and I know them well these days, and the doze box happens to be the most powerful machine in the house right now. Weighing in with 16 GB of ram and an AMD black series (yes it is still old now) cpu, and tons of attached storage. My linux boxes just don't need the horsepower, I digress. While in the middle of processing a large file set (say my MP3 folder), it will stop at about 7K songs in, fine I restart the process and more songs get ingested. However, using the PMS on my PS3, PMS seems to be unable to deliver the list of songs, artists, albums, etc.
I am assuming that there are some parameter tweaks that can be made to improve performance, or am I going to have to take the time to add artist by artist and show by show?
Though, I'm experiencing a similar issue on my Windows PMS setup. I have roughly 2TB of Movies and TV Shows, and no music, and I'm noticing that on my LG Google TV, and my Roku that they are having a harder and harder time displaying the folders and appropriate metadata.
I've confirmed it's nothing to do with the connectivity by running hardwired connections to the my LG Smart TV, and my LG Google TV both, and still no love. I should point out that my standard LG Smart TV using "Media Link" actually displays the info quite well without any hiccups. It's just the LG Google TV and the Roku having the issue. I didn't use to have this issue until I hit about 1.5TB of raw data.
Any thoughts? I don't want to hijack the original users post, so please focus on that, but it would appear that both of our problems are similar.

1) Logs would be helpful, especially showing the scanners "stopping" and the DLNA log showing the PS3 loading
2) Library size wise, not that huge.
3) Most of my music is flac, and around 4000 artists, loading the "all artists" on my PS3 takes about 3 seconds for something to come up, and pretty much keeps up cursor as I scroll down.
4) This is done from my test box, running win8.1, i7-3740QM over wifi (both server and PS3) - all the metadata is on an SSD.
5) Nothing is tweaked (there is really nothing too tweak - everything just runs as fast as it can within the limits of all the hardware involved)

i think tc3driver is talking about the scraping process.
he is talking about a number of things, the scanning process "stopping" is one of them, and why i asked him for the logs showing just that. He also discusses his PS3 not load media which is why i asked him for those logs, and he also asks about performance tweaks for large libraries, which is why i addressed that as well as giving him some context that his library is not that large in the scheme of things - so I'm not entirely sure what your point here is?
I have 4tb in movies and 3tb in TV shows, but I primarily watch on my iphone/iPad or Apple TV. The content loads faster than I can scroll on those but I’ve noticed the ps3 can’t keep up quite as well. Doesn’t seem like a Plex issue to me
