VERY large music library

Server Version#: 1.29.2.6364
Player Version#: 4.93.3

I have a music library that is very large, and plex is not able to cope with it it seems. Has anyone else run into this??

  1. quantify “large”
  2. What exactly are the symptoms of “plex is not able to cope”?
  3. are you following the organisational structure for your files as laid out in https://support.plex.tv/articles/200265296-adding-music-media-from-folders/ ?
  4. What hardware specs has your server?

large is over 200k songs
the symptom is its stuck at 173285 songs, it won’t index any more or so it seems
Im mostly following those instructrions, however there are two directories with a large number of files … approx 20k
Ill need to do some checking to get the exact specs of my server, only thing I know off my head is it’s an ASUS ROG Tuf Gaming machine

Set these aside for now and scan the library without them.
I’d also identify albums with a very high track count (e.g. extensive box sets with several dozens of disks) and remove them temporarily.

While ingesting the files, keep an eye on the free space of your system drive.
If you have modified the location of the Plex data folder, monitor the free space of that drive as well. (and don’t even try to move it to a network file share)

I’d also disable both loudness analysis and sonic analysis during the initial scans. Just concentrate on getting all files recognized. Only after this was successful, enable the loudness analysis first and let the server finish it during the server maintenance period.
Once that is done, you can enable the sonic analysis.

If you have moved the transcoder temp folder to a RAM drive, revert that.

Don’t install the Plex server executables to any other location than drive C:

That seems to have worked, I’ll have to organize those 22k tracks into something better resembling the recommended structure.

Thanks!!!
