Turn off PS4 controller automatically after movie starts

I don’t know if PS apps are even capable of doing this, but it’d be nice if my PS4 controller turned off automatically after I started watching a movie. It could be delayed by 8-10 seconds because sometimes you do need to pause a video right after you start it, but it would definitely help conserve my controller battery…

I try to remember to turn the controller off manually (although half the time I even forget that) but it’s pretty inconvenient on the PS4. It either takes like 5+ button presses to turn it off via the “quick” menu, or a seemingly 10 second long-press of the PS button. Sometimes I decide I’d rather miss the movie if I’m just running to the kitchen or something rather than dealing with the hassle of turning the controller on and off to pause it.

I don’t imagine everyone would want this functionality but figure it could be enabled/disabled in the settings.

Thanks

Just updating this with a pretty awesome workaround I just learned…Enabling HDMI control in the PS4 system menu, and also HDMI-CEC on the TV (and possibly the receiver as well), allows Plex to be controlled by your TV’s remote control. No need to use the PS4 controller at all.

Now to go setup a ps4 activity for my Harmony One…FWIW, I guess Harmony hub-based controllers and apps the work natively with the ps4 as well. The Harmony One is obviously IR based, so using HDMI-CEC is necessary.
