I sometimes have to stop TV episodes quite close to the end but Plex marks them as watched prematurely which I find quite irritating. For example, I stopped 42 minutes into a 46-minute episode and had to restart and skip back to the point where I’d left off. Could the threshold be set to 1 minute remaining for episodes (assuming it’s currently set to 90% as per the setting for Movies) or made user-configurable?
The setting is not adjustable and Plex is not going to change that nor are they going to allow it to be set by users.
Choice is too hard for the Plex team to handle and we (users) are too stupid, according to Plex, to properly utilize and besides choices are not necessary as Plex absolutely knows what is best for us poor defenseless users.
Plex has said that choice is rarely going to be implemented because the “team” always puts a VERY high standard on the addition of any setting because it makes maintenance too hard for their poor little developers.
I do not buy that argument. I believe that choice, particularly in things like what percentage is considered complete, should be user adjustable setting and there should be "reset to default available just in case the user does get things out of wack and does not remember exactly what was done.
But none of that will happen as Plex has made it clear that they are completely against adding any more choice than absolutely necessary is not going to happen. They also believe that things like this are not needed because the vast majority of users are not asking for it but that, too, is an improper and mathematically unsound use of statistics but trying to convince Plex of that is impossible as they have already made their decision and it will not change.
