I keep seeing requests for TV Everywhere to be implemented in Plex, only to have a Plex employee close them and saying that TV Everywhere is illegal.
It is NOT illegal. Here’s an example: Optimum | TV Everywhere (TVE)
Spectrum does the same thing, because they allow it too. It would only be illegal if they didn’t allow it.
What GetChannels does is allow you to use your same credentials to these services (that one is paying for) in their server and then pull in their guide on top of OTA channels, then allow you to watch.
Plex employees: please research this. We want this in Plex. If it was illegal, GetChannels would’ve been forced to shut it down by now.
