There’s an existing suggestion discussing an option to group channels/tv-stations on a separate tab. As per your post, you can already group channels using smart collections – however the consideration in the other suggestion thread is that this is cluttering the collections tab (same as your conclusion).

I recommend you comment/vote in that thread in order to avoid distracting/dispersing votes.

Channel browser

Collections are great. I love that I can browse all my Doctor Who shows, audiobooks, and a couple of movies too, all in one place. However, my TV collections is overwhelmingly filled with “channels” because I like browsing per channel sometimes. Most of the time. Here’s my feature suggestion, let Plex take the TV Studio metadata and have it populate a new Channels tab thus freeing the Collections to be just that.
