Collections are great. I love that I can browse all my Doctor Who shows, audiobooks, and a couple of movies too, all in one place.
However, my TV collections is overwhelmingly filled with “channels” because I like browsing per channel sometimes. Most of the time.
Here’s my feature suggestion, let Plex take the TV Studio metadata and have it populate a new Channels tab thus freeing the Collections to be just that.
Sure there’s a filter that can do this but that isn’t as pretty or as user friendly.
What I’m suggesting is another tab called channels that sits with the recommended/library/collections. And in this channels tab are your programs sorted into tv channel folders. This way I wouldn’t need to create a collection for programs for ABC, etc.
Not at all sure why that’s necessary that you have a tab strictly for one category of Collections. Someone might want a tab for Cartoons, someone else would want one for Reality Shows, another for Sci Fi shows, etc.
My point is that just because you group some Collections by what network they aired on doesn’t really seem like a reason to add a tab for that type of grouping. People like myself who do not group shows the way you do would have no use for a Channels tab and would prefer they not add it.
I think a better solution, which has already been requested I think, is for nested Collections. That way you could have a main level Collection called Channels that you put all those into.
I appreciate what you say about others then wanting genre tabs but channels is more logical since it’s the traditional way of viewing tv shows. And just like with collections it could be disabled so those that don’t want it don’t have to have it.
