TV recordings not showing up in TV Shows at start

Just acquired an HDHomeRun and a Plex Pass. I started out with my desktop as the Plex media server, but after evaluating Plex and HDHR I liked it a lot and want to stick with it. However, I don’t want to keep a desktop PC on all the time. I have a QNAP TS-251 fully updated to non-beta release. I installed the PLEX QNAP app and added it to be my media server on my Plex account and I remove the media server of the desktop from my Plex account. I removed HDHR and then readied it to the new media server (running on the TS-251).

Everything seems to be fine, except recorded TV shows do now show up in “TV Shows” until the instant it stops recording them. Not a few minutes/hours later, like there is some kind of transcoding delay, but the instant the recording stops.

I’ve even tested with the DVR recording only an SD 480 broadcast channel program just so that I could rule out some kind of bandwidth/disk/processor issue using the smallest format.

This issue is that when it was installed on the desktop, shows being recorded showed up in “TV Shows” as soon as the recording started.

With the media server installed on the TS-251, I would like TV shows to show up immediately, like I recall them doing so with the desktop media server. I’ve researched online and gone through settings, but I’m just not finding a way to make this work like it did with the desktop.

Ideas?

I have never ran my PMS on a desktop just on my NAS (unraid) but I have never seen a recording added to the library until after its done.

You can go to your guide and see recordings in progress and play from there but I have never seen a recording sow up in my library until after its done recording.

I believe it sits in a .grab folder while being recorded and gets moved to its final destination once the recording s completed.

just sharing my own experience.

This is the expected behavior. Plex saves into a temporary folder then moves it to your Plex library once it is finished recording.
