I use Plex on my desktop computer and watch the movies through my XBox.
I have been ripping my DVD TV series to add to my collection.
Plex found Knight Rider no problem, but has no information on Magnum PI.
How can I get the Magnum P.I. metadata?
Yes, thank you.
Everything is ripped, named, and produced exactly the same as Knight Rider which plex had no problem getting the metadata for. No love for Magnum?
Unfortunately that doesn’t mean anything, as long as it is not the officially supported naming method.
Please show the folder structure, as well as the file names you used.
If you have some love for your file names:
Old Tom (with a comma):
New Tom (without a comma):
… and in both cases Windows truncates the last dot in the show name 'cause apparently it doesn’t like trailing dots in a Folder Name. Didn’t seem to matter tho - both tests came up instantly and fully populated.
Make sure that you added precisely E:\TV Shows
to your series library.
Not just E:
, nor E:\TV Shows\Magum Pi
.
Do also verify that you did not enable “Prefer local metadata” in the properties of your library.
Most important for tv shows is the name of the folder.
Yours is missing the comma and the dot after P.
Try this: Change the name of the folder to Magnum, P.I {tvdb-74380}
Then perform the Plex Dance with it.
Thank you I will try that..
I do have TV Shows added, all my other tv shows come in with no problems. I guess I’ve never had to deal with punctuation within a tile before
What’s most likely happened is this: since your folder name is missing the comma, Plex has matched this to the 2018 show. And this one doesn’t have a season 5 yet. So there are no metadata available.
