Downloading episode titles and meta data

I recently moved some files around, and re-scanned my library. Plex found the files, but for some reason, only retrieved meta data (episode title, summary, etc) for a few of them.

Here’s an example:

Content is in: G:\Media\TV\ER\Season 01

File: G:\Media\TV\ER\Season 01\er.s01e02.Day.One.fs.avi
Result: Plex founds the meta data, no problem. Yippee!

File: G:\Media\TV\ER\Season 01\er.s01e04.hit.and.run.fs.avi
Result: Plex fails to download any metadata for this episode. What the heck?

and so it goes… For the season of 25 episodes, it downloaded metadata for 3 of them (episodes 1, 2, and 5).

I’ve tried removing and re-adding them, re-analyzing them, etc. No difference.

Any thoughts on what might be going on here?

(running latest and greatest PMS on my windows 7 server)

standard recommendation: follow the naming conventions as suggested by Plex in their media preparation support articles!

you might get lucky with some files properly being recognized and matched… until you don’t.

Renamed the file to File: G:\Media\TV\ER\Season 01\er - s01e04 -hit.and.run.fs.avi and refreshed metadata. Still no joy. Its not related to how I’m naming the files. This file follows the EXACT naming convention rules as stated in the support article.

Here’s how I’ve got my agents set up for TV shows. Does that look correct ?

I supposed you had re-scanned the library before updating metadata (again… sorry for stating the obvious)?
if so… please share your logs (Settings > Server > Help > Download Logs; download and attach to this tread)

Try ER (1994) as the folder name.
Adding the year has become more important lately.

Also consider performing the Plex Dance afterwards.

I changed the order of the agents, putting TheTVDB first, and I verified the episode meta data exists in TheTVDB

Refreshed metadata, still no joy.

OttoKerner - YOU DA MAN! Adding the year to the show folder name and rescanning did the trick!
