TV Series - proper recognition for multi-episode files?

anyone having any luck getting Plex to properly display ALL the correct info for a TV Series file that contains multiple episodes?

Sure seems like if ya use the recommended naming structure Plex should be able to properly display the correct info! (#episodes, episode(s) info based on meta data etc)

I get it that ya can’t currently select individual episodes from the file to view and can live with that.

Frustrating end-user viewing/info experience currently!

Shows as 2 episodes in my library (s7e23 + s7e24), each with their individual metadata.

There’s feature suggestions to improve the handling, ranging from by showing only 1 entry inside Plex that reflects it’s part of a multi-episode file, containing the metadata of all contained episodes, an option to specify a chapter / timecode for when each episode starts within that file to splitting the progress bar across all episodes…

Display single file multi episode shows in a single item

a way to have Plex display single file multi episode shows in a single item, ex: episode name, Episode 1-2, instead of duplicating it in the display and playing the full file twice. Instead of having to split the files, or only having one of the episodes in the file name, making it seem like im missing something. also: ability to show multi part movies in a way that makes sense, like part 1 and 2 under the same Title, instead of showing it as if there was a duplicate movie.

Add Chapter start-point to the filename parser (fixes multi-episode files)

When I have a multi-episode file. Pride_and_Prejudice - S01E01-E04.mkv It obviously can’t tell where episodes 2,3, and 4 start and end, so I have to watch the whole show every time. Instead, make the file-naming Pride_and_Prejudice - S01E01Ch1-E02Ch02-E03Ch03-E04Ch04.mkv When you parse the Episode, you grab the Chapter that goes with it, and jump to that point in the file. Easy peasy. If you want to get fancy, you could even add the end-chapter, but the parsing might get complicated. If …

Span the progress bar over each part of a multiple file episode

So I came into the position that I have to add multiple files episodes since the numbering between my DVDs of my country and the TVDBs is different. My DVD has 24 episodes with story archs over multiple episodes. TVDB has only 6 episodes where each episode is its own storyarch. So I trief the naming pattern Series Name - S01E01 - ptX.mkv for the first episode with X=1-4. It seems to work on the server side. Plex is showing only 4 episodes for these (4) multi-episode files…when there is actual 28..

Use the format as shown by @tom80H:
