I have found a little bug on my end with my TV shows.
I have 2 TV show folders One for "New" stuff that is most often watched then deleted, and the other is an archive of stuff I like to keep forever.
The issue is when i got to the TV shows "Archive" library and then select a show to watch I get an "Accessing Trailers" followed by "PlexConnect No Response from Plex Media Server"
Now here is the bug, if i click the same show again it works perfectly. Please let me know if i am doing something wrong but I do not think I am.
I took a video of this with my tablet and posted it so y'all can see exactly what i mean. (Sorry for the quality my tablet was the only thing charged enough to take the vid.)
The problem looks like PMS isn't responding fast enough the first time you select a file. First thing I would suggest is try the latest PlexPass version of PMS to make sure it's not a bug in 0.9.8.3, the latest version is 0.9.8.4.125
I tried what you said, and i am still having the issue. Here is what I did...
I updated plex to 0.9.8.4.125 as requested.
Installed Windows updates on the dedicated PMS PC/PlexConnect PC
Rebooted the PC
Started PMS and PlexConnect.
Same issue with anything in the library I have never played since switching to Plex, but I went back to the same shows I put in the video and they open no problem no waiting, no pausing, they just start playing right away and they are even transcoding.
Notice in the video they do not even get to the Pre-Play screen, but after they a clicked once then you go back to it the Pre-Play screen shows up.
Can anyone else maybe try this to see if they can reproduce the symptoms? Could it be the size of my library? I have a couple of thousand saved shows...
roidy, I suspect you are correct about the timing issue... I tried this on my PC through my browser and it takes like 30 seconds to get to the pre-play screen there as well. But it only happens once, upon re-opening it instantly pops up.
I have the same issue. Reason is that my media is stored on a drobo. When not in use it spins down the hard drives. The drobo only becomes available once all drives are spun back up which takes a little while as it has 8 drives in it and they spin up sequentially. Once the drobo is active, the issue goes away.
So one solution would be to manually be able to set a time-out delay.
