Well… if you see the next air date for the next episode than for sure you know the TV Show is not ended… 
I would love to see this also for my personal server, similar to what Emby is doing.
There’s a separate feature suggestion for that… also a related/similar one focusing on listing missing episodes in your library in general (linked in the other suggestion too).
I find myself constantly checking for new episodes of shows that are long done. It would be nice to somehow mark the show (perhaps different color checkmark/episode count, or another symbol next next to episode count/checkmark) so that its clear that the given TV show is complete (no more episodes will be released for it). Should be fairly easy to implement into the 3 dot menu for marking manually.

Now that you mention it, I would actually love automatic indicators like “Ended,” “On Hiatus,” etc.
No one could ever agree how those notes should be displayed though, we already have a nuclear holy war over watched/unwatched! 
Haha, well, I am asking for like the simpliest implementation. No need for any automation or db querying. Just let me mark shows as Complete or something. So that when I look at my list of shows I know which shows ended airing.
Can worry about automation later. Just want the basic functionality.
Since TMDB provides information about the status of TV shows, such as returning series, ended series, etc., if a show is marked as ended, the total number of episodes is available. Therefore, regardless of whether the show has finished airing or whether the media files in the library are complete, it is possible to compare the data obtained from TMDB. This would allow users to use corresponding filters to sort their content. This is a highly desired feature, and it’s been nine years now. Hopefully, it will be considered for implementation.
Creating custom posters is an interesting idea, but yeah, the upkeep sounds daunting. Man I wish Plex had a “season complete” marker somewhere, anywhere!
Keep track of which series we have done converting from DVD to digital, which ones are still missing seasons/episodes, and which ones are cancelled, so no more episodes coming.

It looks like it will never get implemented, and as many people have said, this shouldn’t be too hard to implement, just another column in a table and an update to pull the metadata from thetvdb.com.
Being able to filter out shows by completion status would be a great addition.

I prefer to binge watch - ie. not episode by episode but rather wait to see shows (and occasionally completed seasons) which have ended (so I am not left hanging!). Can we make it clearer when viewing a show what its status is and more importantly search for seasons & shows which have ended, please?
