TV Show Entered Correctly Displays Incorrectly

Hello:

I just noticed a problem with one of the TV shows I loaded to Plex. The show is The West Wing - Season 4. According to my list included with the purchased CD’s the 1st season episode is listed as 20 Hours in America and is one show with a length 1:25:06 which is double the normal show lengths. On the website “theTVDB.com” it has this listed as 2 separate shows Part 1 and Part 2.

So you can probably figure what my problem is. The entire season show names after episode 1 displays in Plex with the incorrect name. Example episode 2 is “College Kids” while TVDB and therefore Plex says it should be “20 Hours in America Part 2”. So all the remaining episodes are missed named by one actual show name.

In my filing system the shows are listed correctly as shown if the episode list that comes with the CD’s but Plex displays them according to what is listed (incorrectly) in the TVDB.

Anyway to correct this?

I am running PMS 1.2.3.2914 and all the most current PMP’s for web, Samsung TV, and IOS access. They all display the episode information incorrectly from episode 2 to the end…

The first part should be named with S04E01-E02 if I recall correctly. Obviously S04E03 etc… after that.
This is assuming you are aware of the proper Plex naming conventions. I’m guessing that…

“In my filing system the shows are listed correctly as shown if the episode list that comes with the CD’s but Plex displays them according to what is listed (incorrectly) in the TVDB.”

…means that you aren’t. By that I mean that Plex cares not how you name your media be it from unofficial sources or the official DVD/Blu-Ray. If it doesn’t match the TVDB it’s wrong.

Also just to add that if Plex identifies 49 incorrectly named episodes and fails to detect 1 incorrectly named episodes its not a Plex error. It simply means you have 50 episodes named incorrectly.

Filebot will really help with naming.

I am very well aware of the Plex naming conventions and what I have is correct. The problem is the TVDB has it listed wrong for the CD I have and there seems to be no way in Plex for me to manually override the list to reflect what I actually have.
Never assume what one knows or does not know.

I’m obviously missing something here. If the DVD has episodes one and two as a multiple episode then you name that episode SXXE01-E02
I assuming nothing… More so you could negate that by actually giving an example of how you are naming.
But hey ho… I will leave you to someone more qualified.

Just leave out episode 2 in your numbering schema.
If you have an “episode 2” file, rename it to “episode 3” and “shift up” the episode number of all the other files by 1 too.

Thank you that worked, looks weird but it worked.
