TV Show episode order

Until now, all of the TV shows I’ve loaded have been a match to the scraping details (once I got the scraping part working).

I just ripped ALF (78020) and none of the episode titles are matching the episode. Checking on TVShowDB I see that the AIRED order is what’s being scraped, not the DVD order. In this case I’m surprised they didn’t burn in aired order - except I’ve got two additional episodes; 1 un-aired pilot and an episode 27 in season 3.

But, I digress - does anyone know of a way I can force the scraper for this particular show to use DVD order in lieu of aired? I can manually reorder but that’s so 1999.

you can tell Plex to sort in DVD order. on the show click “edit” and goto the advanced tab. There you’ll find the “sequence” option (last entry on the screen) – change it to DVD order and refresh metadata. done.

sometimes the shows are aired in a different sequence from how they were created/intended. same e.g. for Futurama. however I’ve also experienced shows where they just tried to optimize the utilization of the disc space to avoid including another disc.

alternatively you can look the show up in The TVDB and go with the air date order (e.g. if you feel like the “unaired pilot” is more of a special episode and should be in “Season 0”).

I have used Season 0 for odd-ducks like that.

Odd, though. You’re answer is correct only if you’re in the “TV Show” (or whatever you named it) library. Editing from the “On Deck” tile has a different set of categories, which does not include Advanced.

Thank you!
