TV Show incorrect line up

I don’t know if this a Mac problem, but since I’m running my server on a Mac, I’m putting the question here. A TV program I’ve loaded doesn’t display the correct information. The TV show is Chicago Fire and I have 6 seasons of episodes. After loading the first season, I looked at the episode titles that Plex displays. The titles it shows are for season 3, not 1. After loading seasons 2-5, they all look correct. Then after I load season 6, the season 3 icon disappears and season 1 now has too many episodes. If you click on the season one icon, it shows a 2 on the individual episodes. And if you click to play the first episode, it’s the season 3 opener. I’ve gone over all the file naming and can’t find any errors. Not sure how to fix this.

You did not address how you have named the shows or the directory structure in which they reside. Getting the proper names and descriptions for TV shows is highly dependent on the naming you use. Saying that it used to work is no guarantee it will continue to work. Check out https://support.plex.tv/articles/naming-and-organizing-your-tv-show-files/ and assure your structure and file names are 100% compliant. Once in compliance you may still need to do the PLEX Dance to clean up your meta-data.

@JuiceWSA provided this summary.:

The Plex Dance®:

  1. remove show/movie from library
  2. rescan library files
  3. empty trash
  4. clean bundles
https://support.plex.tv/hc/en-us/articles/200392106-Library-Actions <— scan library files, empty trash, clean bundles
  5. bring names and structures into compliance/Move LMA/etc
  6. replace corrected show/movie into library (or new library)
  7. rescan library files

All Steps. In Order. No Shortcuts.

Also be aware (and afraid) of Plex blowing matches via the bogus embedded Title Field of MP4/M4V files. Combat this situation with…

The LMA Hack:

A very common mistake is adding too many folders to a TV Show Library:

A Drive:/
...A TV Show Library/ <---just add this folder - add no others.
....A TV Show/
.....Season 01/
......A TV Show - S01E01.mkv

You can have as many TV Show Library Folders as you like - on other drives, for instance, but you don’t add individual TV Shows.

There MUST be a Library Folder!
You may not aim a library at the root of a drive.
Period.

All this stuff is pretty basic, but with file naming and structuring being Public Enemy #1 - any and all of that other stuff is enough to make it all break down.
