I’m putting my BSG box set…and all the extras…on Plex. The Seasons work fine, it’s the extras I’m having a hard time with. I put them in a folder marked “Specials” and gave them fake season numbers - so my naming looks like this:
/TV Shows
/Battlestar Galactica
/Specials
Battlestar Galactica - s00e03 - Miniseries Introduction From RDM
My extras DO show up…but all the info is wrong (with the exception of the first two names, as they are the miniseries). Since there is already info data associated with this series that doesn’t match the box extras (even TVBD.com is a mismatch) …is there a way to override JUST the “Specials” folder? Like I said, the Seasons info is spot on.
If any of your extras/specials exist in TVDB, then make sure to assign the file name the episode numbers that are already used in TVDB - this way Plex will pull in the correct info for them.
However, if the extra you’re adding isn’t listed on TVDB, then give the file name an episode number that doesn’t exist in TVDB - this will avoid conflicts, such as Plex pulling in the details of an existing “special” from TVDB that doesn’t line up with your file.
Example: Name your file Battlestar Gallactica - S00E101 - Miniseries Introduction.
Since TVDB currently only has specials for this show going up to 39, by assigning your file 101 you won’t accidentally match against an existing TVDB episode.
Then, once the file is imported into Plex, it’ll sort into the show’s Specials folder without any metadata - and there you can assign the episode name and poster art and description etc.

That did it! It’s funny, I basically tried this, but I only went up to faking 30 episodes. Looks like they have way more specials than that on TVDB. 100+ did the trick though - thanks!
