TV Show library (just one of many) will not load ("There was an unexpected error loading this library")

Server Version#: 1.16.5.1554
Player Version#: 4.8.1

My TV Shows library seems to be corrupted somehow. All my other libraries (Movies, 2x Photos, Audiobooks, Music) all working without issue. TV Shows library was working earlier this week with no issue and when I went to use the app today, noticed an error on the dashboard. Pinpointed it to the TV Show library which continues to give the “There was an unexpected error loading this library” error.

I tried downgrading from 1.17.0.1709 to 1.16.5.1554 to see if the recent upgrade was the issue, to no avail.

I also refreshed all meta-data, optimized database, and cleaned bundles.

When none of that worked, I tried to delete and re-add the TV library from scratch (library now named TV Shows 2). All still no luck…

Attached are troubleshooting logs. Does anyone see anything that points to the issue?Plex Media Server Logs_2019-09-28_17-37-59.zip (6.7 MB)

Same exact problem for me, and it’s gone on for months. I get the same message when loading a TV library regardless of player (iOS, TV, Mac). And if I recreate the TV library from scratch, I get the same problem.

Searching for content that I know is in the library works fine, and watching TV shows I’ve added to that library works fine when accessing them from the Home screen. It’s just the TV library itself (accessed from the menu or sidebar) that shows this problem.

I’ve just tried moving to a fresh iocage Plex plugin under Freenas 11.2 STABLE. Everything seemed to go fine however now I have this exact same issue.

Home screen loads recommendations, search seems to work but Library access presents an unexpected error alert. So far have tried resetting all settings but no joy.

Server version: Version 1.18.1.1973
Web Client: Version 4.8.3

Same here! It seems to have started early last week following an update. I would roll back the release but I have not saved the previous version. I am using a Drobo 5n2 and accessing it through Google Chrome using the IP address of the Drobo Plex Server. Initially, I was getting the message “There was an unexpected error” and was unable to refresh each library. After installing the releases up to 11/22, I uninstalled and reinstalled the server. I have become unable to claim the server. I was able to add a library or 2, but cannot add others and am unable to claim server.
Help!

I’ve been trying to wrap my head around this too. Any luck or ideas, anyone?

Same here! My TV shows just stopped working one day. Other library working without any problems. Tried to move the library to a new disc and add everything again, without luck. Have anybody solved the problem?

I am having the same issue after updating to V1.18.3.2129 One of my TV Shows library seems to be corrupted somehow. All my other libraries (2xMovies, Photos, Music) all working without issue. TV Shows library has worked for years with no issue and now continues to give the “There was an unexpected error loading this library” error. Library wont even delete so I can attempt to reload from scratch. Any suggestions welcome.

Same thing just happened to me a day ago.

I Followed the full reset instructions here. It did fix the issue for a specific show I was getting the error on. But now another show is acting up and I’m going to try the same thing shortly. Maybe this helps some of you out there?

Just reporting back. My ethernet cable may have been loose and I did a full system restart on the client side and everything is back in functioning order. I’ll report back if I experience the same issue. :+1:

Hi Varstar,
Just an update on how I progressed. Had to delete Plex and start again. Installed the last version that worked OK before the update which was V1.18.0.1846
The library that had the error (TV Shows 1) I had to use a different name (TV Shows 3) to get it to work. For whatever reason it didn’t work if I used the original name of the library that was corrupted. The libraries not corrupted I could re-use their names OK. The server spent a week adding my libraries again building the metadata, but it was straight forward and in the end an easier fix for me.
At this stage I won’t be updating unless I have to.
To not be able to use a library name that had an error after the program had been deleted on my server, I can’t help but wonder if the bug is in my account profile that Plex keeps on their server. When you first start Plex after deleting and reloading the full program, your online Plex account profile reloads your users, etc. Trust this helps.

Hello.
PMS seems to back up the library database every three days on a regular basis.
So we solved the problem by restoring the library again using the last working backup file.
1.Stop the PMS
2.Plex Media Server\Plug-in Support\Databases\com.flexapp.plugins.library.db (change database file name in use)
ex) com.flexapp.plugins.library.db.original
3.Plex Media Server\Plug-in Support\Databases\com.flexapp.plugins.library.blobs.db (change the name of the BLOB database file in use)
ex) com.flexapp.plugins.library.db.blobs.original
4.The final backup file “Plex Media Server\Plug-in Support\Databases\com.flexapp.plugins.library.db-2020-01” file name change
ex) com.flexapp.plugins.library.db
5.Final backup file “Plex Media Server\Plug-in Support\Databases\com.flexapp.plugins.library.blobsdb-2020-01” File Rename
ex) com.flexapp.plugins.library.blobs.db
6.Starting the PMS
