TV Shows: "There was an unexpected error loading this library"

Server Version#: 1.18.4.2171

I am getting the error “There was an unexpected error loading this library” when I try to view my TV shows library either on the web or on a client. Alternatively, the posters (or list of movies) will just perpetually say “Loading…”.

If I restart the Plex server application it will work for a short period, usually between nd hour or a day or 2, and then the issue will return.

Only my TV shows library is affected. This particular TV Show library is 30TB in size with 17,000+ episodes…so I’m not sure if the size would contribute to the issue or not. The data is on a Synology 1813+ and the plex server is running on a Dell R620 with dual Xeon E5-2697 V2 processors and 32GB of ram with Windows Server 2016.

In looking at the console I am seeing things like this:

-Took too long (0.125000 seconds) to start a transaction on …\Library\MetadataCollection.cpp:174
-Transaction that was running was started on thread 21720 at …\Statistics\StatisticsManager.cpp:248
-Unknown metadata type: folder
-PubSub: Received notifyConnectivity event with incorrect async identifier (5970e5fc-48a7-4f95-ac9b-2fd08823a950, expected caac8c02-0d58-449b-89cf-f701eb98e57c)
-EventSource: Retrying in 15 seconds.
-Held transaction for too long (…\Statistics\StatisticsManager.cpp:248): 0.234375 seconds
-QueryParser: Invalid field ‘promoted’ found, ignoring.

Some of those are a little concerning.

I can provide logs if someone can tell me what to specifically upload.

Thanks for any help in advance.

For the web client, does using https://app.plex.tv/desktop work?

For the “a client” – which client exactly and what version of Plex app do you have installed?

Just tried the app.plex.tv link on the web and I got the perpetual “Loading…” for about 3 minutes on each tile in the grid or each title in the list view until finally I got the “There was an unexpected error loading this library”.

The local clients are Nvidia Shields with the latest app updates from the play store. Remote clients are rokus and amazon fire tv. All report the same issues with only the TV Shows library. The movies library works perfectly for everyone.

Check to see if the database has become corrupt and try to repair as needed:

After running the first command, I ran the second command and then I get “Error: no such index: index_title_sort_naturalsort”.

Am I to guess that this is corrupted?

I’m not an expert but I’ll yes, that’s probably the source of your issue.
