TV show posters off by one episode

This has occurred on every version of the server through current.

I currently have 255 full TV series’. Sometimes, when I happen to be paying attention I will find episodes that play in the wrong order. In other words, it says it episode X but is actually episode y. Fixing some of these, which is a huge pain as you must view part of every episode (pray it actually shows the name IN the episode intro) and then rename it, plex dance it, etc… has led me to notice another oddity.

At times, the posters for each episode are wrong. In almost every case they end up being ONE episode off. The episodes are named correctly. They play in the correct order, but the posters are one ep off. Yes, you can click to change the poster and usually (not always) the 2nd or 3rd poster option is correct. However, in every case, you get a correct poster for that episode but it’s not nearly as GOOD or rather TELLING as the original poster. Thus the poster for episode 3 is a GREAT and correct poster for episode 4. The right poster for episode 3 is from that episode but from a part of the episode that means nothing when just looking at it. Hope that makes sense.

I have the dance on these shows which can lead to other issues and MANY hours of research, typing, etc…(if you have made many mods to things like episode info, etc…since it then gets lost) and have had no luck in them being fixed. This sucks when you have a TV show with 11 seasons and 28 episodes in each season!!!

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Is this a bug? Something known about or unknown? I can’t be the only person to have noticed this odd behavior. As stated, it’s been this way for years since I only had 5 series’.

Whenever I stumble upon a similar issue, first thing is to consult TheTVDB and compare its episode listing with other sources.
Often it is things like Season premieres or holiday specials which are numbered differently or which are sometimes moved to the ‘Specials’ season.

Sometimes you have a file which has a double episode in one piece, while TheTVDB has it as two separate episodes listed. (This case is easy to solve: simply leave out the episode number of the second part.)
