I am new to Live TV show and plex pass features. I was curious if someone could give me some input on some issues it seems I am having. I am using HDHomeRum Quatro.
Some shows are only recording 15 minutes out of a 60 minutes show, 25minutes of out 60, etc.? I have unchecked the option for Partial Viewing on the recording to see if that fixes the issue.
When using the “Minutes before start” is set to 0, I don’t see some of the beginning of the show, what is the recommended value you put in this spot, 1?
What software do you use to rip the commericals out, I haven’t tried the built in features and was curious how that works and if it is reliable?
Also, what is the recommended hardware to run plex on for Live TV, etc.
Adding time to the beginning and end of shows I find problematic on my 2 tuner HDHomeRun. The problem is that if you want to record say 2 half hour shows running sequentially, even on the same channel, the ‘after’ of the first recording will overlap the ‘before’ of the second. That means for a few minutes, both tuners are considered to be ‘in use’ and you cannot make any other simultaneous recording. That few minutes of overlap creates a big problem.
This is a shame as in fact there’s no need for this to actually be a problem. Plex could easily figure that the 2 were running on the same channel and simply use the same tuner, leaving the other free for any other simultaneous recording. But it’s not that smart.
I plan to get a Quatro largely just to avoid this problem, but in the meantime I leave ‘before’ and ‘after’ times set to 0 and hope I don’t miss too much.
This happened to me last night, I have the SD Quatro and their premium TV using Shield TV as the plex server. Last night only the last 25 minutes of Fear the walking dead, and the last 25 minutes of The last ship recorded. It is like the clock was off even though it was accurate. Until last night all recordings have been flawless for start and end times.
