In today’s release of Plex for Android we see; • [TV] Support Google Assistant integration in the list of what’s new in version 6.8.0. Does this mean I can use Google Home with Google Assistant to control Plex for Android TV?
Huch where? http://forums.plex.tv/discussion/227995/release-announcements#latest doesn’t have any lines tagged with [TV]?
In Google Play under NEW IN 6.8.0
I tried everything and anything work (in France)
Google assistant only works in American English
Ooooo how does this work? will my google home interact with my 2016 shield?

Is there a way to help you to make it available in other languages?
I can confirm it does work with the shield. “OK, Google play Atomic Blonde on plex” and it start playing from anywhere on the shield. Seems its still a little buggy as some movies say they are not available even though they are or when you try to play music it says its not available in your country. Overall a great start. Let me know if anyone find more documentation on this feature.

@dan0780 are you using the newer shield, and the search remote? or are you using a google home?
@teshiburu I am using the 2017 shield 16gb model and using the shield as my google assistant. I don’t see why it wouldn’t work with the older shield as they too have the google assistant as long as you have the newer game controller that allows for always on google assistant.
I do not have a google home to test with but I tried with the google assistant app on my iPhone and doesn’t seem to work.
So it looks like if you use the remote or game controller it now supports commands for plex where prior to this update it did not except when searching you could select to play something in plex. No you can just tell it to play “movie” in plex and it does.

Nope, it’s a limitation with Google Assistant, guess they’ll release new languages little by little.
All this Google Assistant stuff if something we don’t have control over, it’s part of the OS. When the OS notifies us that someone is trying to find something, we do a search and return the results based on the query.
So for now these new features of Google Assistant on Android TV are only available for American English. That’s all the info Google gives about the support:
Just in case, be sure that everything is up to date (latest OS versions and app versions like the launcher)
Alright thanks for the detailed response!
Good news the Google Assistant SDK now supports English (Australia, Canada, UK, US), French (Canada, France), German, and Japanese.

@“maxime.wantiez” As Antonio previously said, this feature is mostly handled by the device system (we only returns information required by system queries) so there isn’t much more we can do about it. So even when the Google Assistant SDK (which is used to create apps that should be integrated with Google Assistant) includes more languages, only Google and device manufacturers can include new languages to Google Assistant integration in Android TV.
