I recently purchased built a new PC, so installed Plex Media Server. When I try to add my VBOX 3442 top the DVR section so I can watch Live TV, it just hangs in the searching section. I have tried uninstalling Plex (including deleting reg key and deleting all Plex files / folders) three times. I am having no luck. Its strange, I haven’t changed any settings on my DVR or Network. and I was working before I changed PC.
Inspect the list of network connections of Windows.
Make sure you are only using one (preferably wired).
In its properties, it must be marked as “private”, not as “public”.
Thanks for the advice. I have an ethernet connection, and wasn’t connected to WIFI (I even tried disabling the WIFI card to test your suggestions. Where do you mean “in its properties”? I tried turning off Public Networks in windows settings (Network & internet > Advance Network settings > advanced sharing settings) - but it didn’t do anything to help.
Perform a right-click on the network icon in your Windows task tray. Then “Network and Internet settings”, then “Ethernet”.
(If you can’t find it, search for “Ethernet” in your start menu.
The selection of the network type is right at the top.
If it’s set to “public”, all ports are closed by the Windows Firewall. Which means Windows cannot communicate with other members of the local network, except the gateway (i.e. router).
In order to find and use the tuner, communicating with other members of the local network is necessary.
I have checked the ethernet section - I currently have a Private network selected.
The vBOX appears in the network section - but for some reason the Plex Server doesnt want to find it.
I’m also getting the same issue on my PMS on MacOS with my HDHomeRun tuner. Was working fine for years until the latest update, now it can’t be seen or added. Funny enough the Channels app sees it and works fine.
Check the software version on the VBox HTML interface
If it’s not XTI_VJ.2.67.3 you need to email VBox support and they will send you a link to the latest version. The software update option does not pick it up
Once you’ve installed that there will be an option to Enable Plex under Streaming > IPTV
