Hi guys,
Looking to ditch sky and start using plex round the house. In order to do so I need to get the tuner side sorted.
I was going to get a HD home run Quattro but they seem to have disappeared of the face of the earth for UK purchase.
I have found an alternative that should tick the boxes. Can anyone confirm if they’ve had success with a vbox satellite gateway XTi 4134?
Would be perfect for me to disconnect the sky box and connect this to the satellite under the assumption sky do not come and remove theirs.
Ordered now so will update with the compatibility.
Vbox offer a 30 day money back option.
T’s and C’s state it maybe subject to a 30% reduction on the return so hopefully it works. £182 delivered in the UK.
I’m using vBox over here in Ireland and generally don’t get any major issues.
The main ones I get is when my internet is rebooted, its hit or miss if it comes back online or needs a total power cycle. Other than that, its quite solid.
I’m using the cable version for irish channels and i also have the satellite vbox for freesat channels.
Any questions give me a shout. Happy to help out
Thank you very much.
So I have since found out that Sky Q uses a wide band LNB that does not work with the vbox.
I have a standard LNB to fit but it’s far too hot at the moment. Maybe a night time job.
Yep, worthwhile changing it over.
My Dad has a hybrid LNB that only has 2 connections for Sky Q, but still had issues with scanning channels a lot
My initial plan had been to run both in parallel to get vbox setup and start using and then cancel sky if all is well.
As soon as I swap the LNB sky is going off.
Might be worthwhile doing the same scan 2-4 times depending on if you got the vBox will 4 connections.
Example: don’t tick the box to copy same settings for Satellite 2,3 and 4. At least that way, you can see if any connections are not as strong. We initially allowed Satellite 2,3 and 4 to copy and then we couldn’t distinguish what cable was not working until we done a separate scan.
Thank you.
With my initial testing with wide band I was looking to use unicable connecting to port one and have the same settings automated to 2,3 and 4.
