I have a new tv series and I cannot figure out how to get plex to get the info from tvdb.

The Plex media scanner is not working.

I name the folder A Remarkable Place To Die

     Series 1
         I have the media file named A Remarkable Place To Die - S01E01

That is how I name everything, sometimes I put the year in parenthesis if needed.

I don’t know how to get plex scanner to go to tvdb and get the info.

I tried adding the funny brackets with the tv id number and nothing worked.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Simply put: you don’t.

Plex has its own metadata backend that’s fed by data from various sources, e.g. IMDb, TMDb and TVDb.
You can provide matching hints, as for what show belongs to, though it doesn’t generally matter if you use the id of TMDb, IMDb or TVDb as hint.
However, you can tell Plex which episode ordering you want to apply to that show — configuring the show to use the episode order from TMDb (aired) or TVDb (aired, DVD, absolute, custom orders). This can be useful if there’s different orders.

TL;DR: you cannot tell Plex to use e.g. descriptions of a specific source at this point.

Allow at least 3 days for completely new items to travel from TheTVDB or TheMovieDB to Plex.
Don’t even try to match them before.
The series exists on both TVDB and TMDB as of now. A Remarkable Place to Die - Unknown - Season 1 - TheTVDB.com
But TMDB doesn’t have any episode titles. You can add these yourself if you create an account on TMDB. A Remarkable Place to Die: Season 1 (2024) — The Movie Database (TMDB)

Putting things on TMDB is important, as it is the primary database for Plex.
Both websites agree on the ordering of the episodes so far, so there is no need to explicitly select one.

/Series <- your series library needs to be pointed to this folder!
   /A Remarkable Place To Die (2024)
     /Season 01
         A Remarkable Place To Die - S01E01.ext

My recommendation would be to always add the (year) to the folder name.
