Having two editions of Star Trek II - The Wrath of Kahn, one being the original movie Star Trek II - The Wrath of Kahn (1982) and one being the Director’s Cut Star Trek II - The Wrath of Khan (2002) {Director’s Cut}, they are only showing up as one movie in the Windows Plex Player. Where as Star Trek - The Motion Picture shows up as two movies, one the original and one the Director’s Cut.
I am quite sure that I am using the proper format on the naming protocol but they still show up as one movie but not separate editions. Someone had a similar problem with Little Mermaid and it was suggested that they use Fix Match, so I tried it and all it did was change the Poster.
Definitely gotta take the space outta there on either side of the hyphen: {Edition-Director’s Cut} is right. The way it is listed in your screenshot won’t work right.
I do that all the time myself. Feels weird not putting spaces there.
When I’ve done that, I pull the file outta the library folder, rename it with the spaces, and then put it back. That usually works. I don’t think you need to do the whole plex dance but I have update automatically after changes enabled so if you don’t then you might need to clean up a bit before putting it back.
I dunno if doing “split” from the menu and re-matching will work but you could try it.
Edit: You might want to stick with the original release year for Star Trek 2, not the year the director’s cut was released. It’s not really matching to the director’s cut but the original and just letting the “edition” tag say it’s okay to have a duplicate record of the same title (essentially, that’s how I think of it) - in fact by using Editions you actually break it outta other Discover features so if you click on an actor name to see other movies and TV shows in your library with them in it, the director’s cut won’t show up for them in that list.
