I have a main home and a vacation home. I think I would like to have a Plex Server installed at both places, just in case one of the Windows PCs is shut down for some reason… that way I can access my music from either place with Sonos. I am assuming that this is possible but not sure how to set it up. I guess if I wanted to go to Plex Pass, this would not be an issue… correct? Sorry this is such a new user question but I think Plex might be what I have been looking for because every time I set up a DLNA external hard drive cloud… at some point it goes bad and then I have to start all over again. Thx in advance!
- You can have more than one server connected to your plex account.
- Plex pass is not necessary for that
- there are no/zero/zilch mechanisms for synchronising media files and/or metadata (unwatched/watched) between servers
If your vacation home has an internet connection, there are no hindrances preventing you from setting up a second plex server.
Thanks so much. I figured that this minimal approach would work… and I understand that there will be no syncing between the two music libraries (from the two Plex Servers)… to do the cloud syncing, as I understand it, would be to use a “cloud” such as Amazon Drive… but in reading the info on Plex Cloud Syncing, it wont utilize any music flies I place on the Amazon Drive manually… that it is done by the Plex Server and Plex Pass and it only syncs what I tell the Plex Server to place on the Amazon Drive…
I was hoping that I could have a Cloud drive (such as Amazon) where all my music flies would reside and Plex would utilize it… but that is NOT the case, if I understand correctly.
Thx again!

This will be possible with the Plex Cloud Server which is currently just starting preliminary tests.
