Two issue

hi,
first one is, sometimes i need to move plex server to another machine. i follow migration steps but it didn’t working. all the path, disk data, media data same but plex need to redownload all meta datas. missmatches, problems, stucked images vs. i wish just take database, folder etc backup in plex, install a new machine and restore the backup.

second one is opensubtitles plugin. this plugin not converting any non us subtitle to utf-8. (in my case turkish subtitles encoded windows-1254 and iso8859-9) also saved subtitles in media bundle and i don’t have any chance to say “save to media folder”. if this plugin download and save subtitles in the media folder, i run my scripts to convert encoding to utf-8.

have a lovely day.

See [REL] SRT2Utf-8

you think this is the solution? i say official plugin not working properly and you say “go and use third party”

nice moderation.

Plex req utf-8, I gave you a way, and now you respond like that!

But regardless, your call

Actually, it’s extremely frustrating to see a huge tool like Plex that doesn’t support this small feature which I saw available almost in any media player I used on PC and mobile. Especially that it is a paid service. The player should automatically convert the encoding of the subtitle file with no need for such hustle to go and install 3rd party plug-ins.

Not possible, since that would req. all players to download the sub first, then convert it, and then merge into the stream.

Alternative:
Do it on the fly, but most players simply doesn’t have the power to do so

Conclusion: has to be done at the server!

And yes, IMHO, and not a Plex dude, but simply a guy like you, that has been granted the title of Ninja, meaning some moderation rights on the forums, then PMS should handle this, but since it doesn’t, I wrote SRT2UTF-8
