As title says, I have one PMS on one PC with both Audio and Video media libraries. I wish to add a second PMS for audio only and on a seperate PC. But I have come up against a couple of issues.
I have installed the second PMS (let’s call it PMS#2) on a second PC and logged into it with my Plex-Pass details, added the AUDIO folders to the music libraries and the contents are scanned.
BUT…
The new audio only libraries in PMS#2 are showing up in the first PMS#1 (video only one) and the opposite also, the video libraries from PMS#1 are showing up in PMS#2. Which I do not want to see.
How do I seperate the server/set of libraries? and how to choose PMS#1 and see only videos, and I only see audio when I choose PMS#2.?
And therefore how to make this work through the remote access ? since the default WAN address of both PMS’s is on the same port, 32400. I have changed the LAN address port of PMS#2 to 24### and remote access is available, but of course I still see the libraries of both servers. How to keep them seperate, spilt the two servers contents.
I have searched here and elsewhere for a similar issue but didn’t see anything like this…

It seems you have successfully separated your media on two different servers. While your account has access to both servers‘ libraries, the Plex clients will present you all those libraries (you can pin/unpin them from different clients but they’re there and accessible based on your account).
If you want a setup where certain clients can only access libraries of on one or the other, you might want to look into working with different accounts, e.g. sharing only certain libraries with a managed user account — if you’re signing into that user on one of your clients you’ll only be able to see/use the shared libraries.
With all that being said: if you were only setting up two servers to separate access to the media… that seems unnecessary (at least considering how Plex is working).
As for remotely accessing two or more servers within the same network
You’ll need to establish a manual port forward on your router for both machines. There you can specify a different public tcp port for each of them, pointing to port 32400 on the respective server machine. Make sure to configure each server to know that particular port is to be used for its remote connections.
[edit: sorry… on re-reading your post I’ve just noticed you had already resolved that part]
Hi there and thank you for your reply.
As you mentioned I have been able to move the audio media to the second PC successfully. And I get the idea of using different accounts for different users, and allowing them access as i see fit.
The reason for separating the audio from the video media, is because the audio will be powered on 24/7, unlike the video. So it was a time to have a but of a reorganisation, and save some power charges too.
I was just wondering. Thanks for the help and advice.

Just as I was getting used to having to having the media types on seperate servers/PC’s… I am receiving a message that I am “not authorised” to access server #2 and all the video libraries are removed from the lefthand list.
Seems that server claiming has forgotten who i am…?
ideas anyone, cheers CD
well I logged out of both, stopped the server running on both and a restart of both PC’s seems to have done the trick… yeeharr
but why was it necessary ? will it reoccur I wonder ?
