Hey! I’ve been trying to fix this for days and hope someone there can help. I‘ve got two shows, properly named, that plex keeps combining into one and refuses to acknowledge the other exists.
The series are “The Challenge: Champs vs Pros (2017) {tvdb-328615}” and “The Challenge: Champs vs Stars (2017) {tvdb-337199}”
Labeling them correctly, matching/unmatching, plex dancing - nothing works. Even directly searching the tvdb tag for Champs vs Stars yields results only for champs vs pros. Plex isn’t recognizing champs vs stars as series. I’ve been advised of the below:
Plex is getting confused with these two shows because on IMDB they are combined into a single show with three seasons. If I look at the IDs in Plex it lists all IDs from both shows together.
The only way to get this fixed is to report it on the Plex Forums so an employee can go in and split them apart. There is nothing you can do from the user side to fix this.
So I was hoping someone from the Plex side could help out!
I’m having the exact same issues with the same two shows, and I see you haven’t gotten a response in several months and this post was about to close. Hopefully someone will notice it now that it’s active again.
My Sonarr instance pulls them as separate series. TheTVDB lists them separate. TheMovieDB lists them separate. Changing my library to any of the other agents pulls them separate, but I have to change the entire library. The only place they are combined is on IMDB. Using the Plex agent combines them together AND will not allow you to override them with any tags/codes/etc from TheTVDB or TheMovieDB like the Plex documentation says you should be able to. Using the other agents allows you to override with tags/codes, but the Plex agent seems to sometimes do whatever it wants regardless of how you specify it. Override tags/codes shouldn’t be able to be overwritten again by the agent. What’s the point of them then?
I would just change my library to one of the other agents so these shows would be correct, but then there’s that nagging notice about upgrading the library that’s impossible to hide.
My media has TheTVDB ID in the folder name, the file name, AND I try to use it in the metadata search in Plex. The new Plex Agent refuses to acknowledge the existence of this series and is actively trying to merge it with another, and there is no way to override it. Plex does not appear to recognize/allow tvdb-337199 with the new agent
