I have a problem with Plex, for some unknown I can no longer access plex on any TV inside my network or outside, this just literally happened over night for no apparent reason? now I am literally not tech savy, ive read through some of the threads and its quite technical… so im hoping someone can help me to get back online and carry on sharing my plex with my family and crucially watch movies on my TV in my living where the plex app is installed on a sausung TV (my PC is upstairs in another room)
anyhelp i can get to sort this out would be amazing 0 thanks
Depending on a remote authentication server in order to access/play local media is a classic weak link scenario. I can say this episode has diminished my trust in Plex as a media playback solution.
mine won’t even load the main GUI on the “localhost”. I’m greeted with “Plex is not reachable. Please make sure your server has a working internetconnection…”
While i understand the need for networking capability due to streaming to “the outside”, i fail to see why an external plex server network issue, has such a detrimental effect on servers installed on a PC.
Agree 100%. You cannot make a service, offer Lifetime subscriptions and then make it complete break because of a central issue with the authentication server. Thats madness at best! Plex Media Server is perfectly capable of serving locally meanwhile. How is this acceptable in any way?
Exactly. In the past I was always able to access my server within my own network. I noticed this had changed a while ago if the internet was down, I could no longer access plex at home despite my internal network being up.
I have no idea why this changed but, and never complained as I have never experienced an outage with Plex directly that was out of my own control, however now that it has, this needs to change.
There is no reason why I should not be able to load plex via a local IP directly regardless of what is occuring on the world wide web. This is completely unacceptable!! I had a hard time even accessing it directly from the server it is hosted on!
