Unable to access plex server on HiFi player when multiple users defined

Hello,

I have a Denon hifi player that was able to connect to my plex server when there was only 1 home user defined (very basic interface on the hifi player: only looking for available DLNA sources, no possibility to select a user or type a PIN code).

Now that I have added a 2nd user (without PIN code, like the 1st one), my hifi player is not able to find my plex server anymore. I guess this is because I should select a user, which is not possible on my player.

Did I miss something?
Is there any option to be set on plex server to allow my hifi player to connect to plex without having to select one of the 2 home users? I tried to activate guest user, but it does not solve my problem.
I saw that it is possible to define IP adresses that do not need authetication, but it seems to apply only when there is just a single user?

Thanks a lot for your help. I when through the topics of this forum but did not managed to find similar issue.

Server Version#: 1.21.0.3711

You’re not missing anything… that’s the expected behavior.
If you enable multiple managed/home users, this will disable the DLNA server. The reason is simply to avoid e.g. your kids from bypassing the restrictions you’ve applied to their accounts… with DLNA enabled, they can access the entire content of your server without those restrictions by using a DLNA client instead of the Plex app.

From the support article about consequences of being in a plex home:

Changes to Plex Media Server

When creating or joining a Plex Home, certain changes are made to the Plex Media Server to help keep the media safe.

  • The DLNA server will be disabled by default

And the support article about plex home security changes:

What Gets Changed

Disable the DLNA Server

The DLNA server built in to Plex Media Server will be disabled completely. DLNA access does not use a specific user account and so it would have full access to all of your media. Thus, it’s disabled by default here to help keep your media safe.

If desired, you can turn the Enable the DLNA server option back on under Settings > Server > DLNA, though we do not recommend doing so.

Warning! : Enabling the DLNA server means that any DLNA device or app will have full, unrestricted access to your content.

Hello

thanks for your prompt feedback, this is exactly what I needed!
For the moment, I am not looking for restricted access, I have set up 2 users so as each of them can have their own music history / prefs with plexamp.

have a nice day
