Unable to add folders to new or existing TV Show library

Server Version#: 1.21.1.3830
Player Version#:
I’m unable to add new folders to my TV library, But I can add folders to the Movies library…

The add folder option is just greyed out on the TV library option, where I’m able to click it on the Movies Library when i select edit on each one…

I’m also not able to add folders to a new TV library, since gave up trying to add the folders to the existing TV library. And even that wouldn’t let me add folders to a new library.

Anyone seen this issue, or how to fix it ?

version: plexmediaserver_1.21.1.3830-6c22540d5_amd64.deb(File removed)

BUMP

Does anyone else have this issue ?
I cannot add any TV shows, nor can i make a new TVShow library for the same reasons…
Cheers, Darkskynet

The empty “language” selector hints at an issue with your server installation. Or with your browser.

Make sure to use the hosted version of the web app https://app.plex.tv
Use a “clean” web browser without browser add-ins.

If your web client has been running for quite awhile already, refresh (F5) the web app in your browser.

I get the exact same issue on my iPhone, so this is server side. What can i do to remedy this? Can I remove a language file of some kind? I have done no modification of the server except upgrade to the most recent version.
Linux x64 Version 1.21.1.3876

It’s usually an indication the update itself (package install) was wonky somewhere.

Download again, with a different browser.
Uninstall the package.
Install the fresh download.

I followed the instruction here: https://support.plex.tv/articles/201370363-move-an-install-to-another-system/

I copied the entire “Plex Media Server” folder where the Prefrences.xml etc are located. I uninstalled Plex and reinstalled it.

It runs for a moment, and crashes.

running “sudo systemctl status plexmediaserver” shows that it is crashing, but when I look in the Crash Report folder its empty? Not sure if that is normal or not.

@Darkskynet

sudo chown -R plex:plex /var/lib/plexmediaserver

Restart Plex.

Alright I finished that. Took a while of course, but I expected that.

When i attempt to launch plexmediaserver it writes a .dmp file to the Crash Reports folder, but it deletes its self before I can copy it. Basically instantly disappears from the folder… ?

Belowis the output from "sudo systemctl status plexmediaserver"

@ChuckPa

It appears that it was able to upload the dmp file to https://sentry.io
I have no idea how to view it on that website tho, as I guessing its only accessible by Plex devs?

I have noticed I have error “4 in libcrypto” which is mentioned in a few other posts, I do have a custom cert for SSL https traffic. If that helps

EDIT: I have downgraded to plexmediaserver_1.18.3.2111-5a96726d0_amd64.deb and the server works again. And i can add shows to the TV library again, tho I think the version is so far behind it now doesn’t work with my LG smart TV app…
I’m going to attempt to upgrade the server until it works with the TV again.

I copied the “Plex Media Server” to a safe location.

Uninstalled plexmediaserver.

Reinstalled but an older version, plexmediaserver_1.18.3.2111-5a96726d0_amd64.deb

Deleted the new copy of “Plex Media Server” and replaced with the version of “Plex Media Server” I had set aside from the original install.

I then continued to upgrade. Until I reached.
plexmediaserver_1.21.1.3830-6c22540d5_amd64.deb

I could upgrade farther but I have the ability to again add folders to the TVShow category.

Not sure what caused it, but this fixed it.
